David Leavitt is a bizarre guy.
According to his Twitter bio he’s a freelance writer who really wants you to know that he’s not a fan of Donald Trump.
Man, the cojones on this guy. Look at him openly call out Trump on TWITTER (and also retweet himself)! Thankfully, he censored the tweet because there are children on Twitter.
Leavitt is afraid of no one. ESPECIALLY TRUMP!
God—so brave. Like him or not, you have to respect the bravery of this guy openly destroying Trump on Twitter.
Somehow, you will find a way, David. Because that’s just who you are, a sarcastic guy who speaks truth to power!
Leavitt, however, is also a bag of dog turds left out in the hot sun.
Here’s where I draw the line with Leavitt. As brave as he is calling out Trump at every turn (Scared yet, Donald?), he claimed that Anthony Bourdain is a gaping asshole for killing himself, which was a bold strategy.
The “gaping asshole” is actually a callback to a tweet Bourdain sent to Leavitt in 2017.
At first glance, it just seems like Bourdain was directing this tweet at Leavitt unprovoked. As though, between traveling the world and educating audiences about different cuizines and cultures, Bourdain just scrolled through Twitter and decided to take a swipe at Leavitt.
I know. The nerve.
What Leavitt forgets to mention is that Bourdain called him an asshole because Leavitt made a joke about the Manchester bombings during an Ariana Grande concert. Credit to YouTuber and genuine good dude Philip DeFranco for providing the full context of the tweets.
1. I’m gonna have to agree with Bourdain here.
2. You shockingly didn’t include what Bourdain was responding to, which was you making a joke about Manchester bombing deaths.

The professional writer and Twitch streamer (of course he’s a Twitch guy) thought a bombing seemed a good opportunity to dunk on Ariana Grande. Again, DeFranco caught the whole deal and tweeted it out.

Leavitt apologized, citing his knack for cracking a joke to whatever’s “trending” on Twitter, like bombings, for example.
He capped off that apology with a “condolences 2 families,” which was a beautiful display of how to care at the absolute minimum.
With Bourdain, Leavitt did not apologize because he’s not sorry for saying that suicide is a selfish act which will send you straight to hell (if you’re religious). At the very least, Bourdain and others are in the eternal waiting room of purgatory.
Don’t both examining the random tangent Leavitt takes from Trump bashing.
He went from valiantly striking down Trump supporters to telling people when it’s acceptable to kill yourself. It’s a wild ride with no rhyme or reason.
Leavitt said he is opinionated about suicide because he had friends who took their own lives. While that’s a terrible thing to learn, offering the notion that those who commit suicide are selfish is extremely ignorant and an abhorrent statement.
He then retweets the suicide hotline number to let everyone know that despite his belief that suicide is selfish and Bourdain is an asshole. He still cares, okay guys?
But seriously, this guy sucks.
